One of the things that our PTO is most excited about is filling our library with new books! We have dedicated $5,000 to purchasing new books, with help from our wonderful TBE Librarian!
This is an ongoing process and we will continue to add more!
When the students come back after Winter Break, they will get to enjoy the new projectors purchased by PTO, using some of the funds raised by our Fun Run!
This was a big purchase and a much-needed update for our classrooms. We are so excited to see them in use and it goes to show how big of a positive impact the Fun Run can have on the Trailblazer Elementary community!

Mr. Chiacchieri, our TBE PE Teacher, requested a grant to purchase an Omnikin Kin-Ball. It is a 48”diameter sports ball that is so much fun! It promotes teamwork and challenges students in creative way!
The students love it!

Dana Cooper (TBE OT) requested grant funding to create these sensory pathways for all kids to enjoy! They are fun and help kids learn!

Anyone who has stepped foot in a classroom knows how many pencils students go through in a day.
This is why the PTO helped purchase electric pencil sharpeners for the teachers and students to use. It’s a small thing, but makes a huge difference!
Beth Bates (TBE Counselor) requested a grant for a set of Slumberkins and books for our school and they are so oh, so cute!
Slumberkins is an emotional learning brand on a mission to empower children to be caring, confident, and resilient.
They will be used as a special tool to:- Identify, embrace, and learn from all feelings, big and small- Deepen healthy relationships through meaningful moments in everyday life- Step into their most authentic selves and honor the diverse world in which we live- Lay the foundation for a lifetime of confidence, empathy, and resiliency
Beth Bates (TBE Counselor) requested a grant for plastic test tubes with lids to make Calm Down Bottles for each student to help learn how to regulate their emotions. She will go to each classroom to discuss emotion regulation while assembling the Calm Down Bottles. This will impact all students, K-6th.

TBE leaders and PTO are so excited to announce that we have approved a large amount of funding to help bring different robots and coding applications at TBE to enhance the STEM program. This is still in the beginning stages, but keep an eye out for more info (and watch out for friends potentially rolling around the halls)!
Data shows that students who participate in STEM classes and programs, such as robot coding, develop a set of skills such as: problem solving, critical thinking, creativity development, reasoning, and teamwork.
Vida Tesar and Teresa Henley, TBE's 2nd Grade teachers, requested a grant for a software license to Vocabulary A-Z.
2nd Grade TBE students will practice vocabulary by completing game-based activities that integrate assigned lessons and make learning interesting and fun.

Kristen Anderson, TBE's Social Worker, requested a grant for students to create their own "Worry Stone" in art class.
A worry stone can be used as a grounding tool for students who are feeling upset, anxious or worried. Rubbing a worry stone between the index finger and thumb can help as a coping skill and therapeutic in and of itself.

Quick Flip Resources provide great teaching strategies! They are handheld, spiral-bound charts which support lesson planning for TBE teachers, grades K-6.

Andrew Chiacchieri, TBE's Physical Education Teacher, requested a grant for an indoor curing set. He thought it would be a great way to get the students excited and interested in this new sport and just in time for the Winter Olympics!

Casey Gleaton and Kelsie Peachey, TBE's 3rd Grade Teachers, requested a grant for a Morpheme Magic book/lessons for all 3rd graders.
Morpheme Magic will help teachers’ understanding and confidence in their ability to teach and build their students’ morphological awareness.

Nicole Cimbura, TBE's ESL Teacher, requested a grant for 14x copies of The Hobbit.
In order to be compliant with DCSD's guidelines, these books needed to be specially bound to preserve the longevity of use for years to come!
